Camera Critters on Pender Island

Although we have plenty of deer out here on the prairie (where the deer and the antelope play, just as the song says) I loved seeing the pretty little Island Deer when I was visiting BC's beautiful Pender Island earlier this month. The deer on Vancouver Island and the neighboring Gulf Islands are smaller than deer on the mainland of Canada.

Photos by C. McCue-Davies, J. Chalmers-We, and K.L. Davies

Two views of the same little herd.

This fawn was on the other side of the street, where the lighting was different,
as you can see by the color of his coat.

Adorable critters!!!!

I suppose maybe they're smaller because they've adapted to living on an island! Lovely and delicate.

They're beautiful.

The fawn is just adorable. We see deer here too but it's not the same as seeing them in a setting like the island. Looking at your shots here and in your SkyWatch post below makes me want to get back over to BC again. It's been way too long since my last visit.

That last capture - of the fawn - is a beauty, Kay. How blessed you are to have such gorgeous creatures in your area. Thanks for sharing.
